the grim grotto (book): the baudelaires continue to love & support each other while making friends with fiona and captain widdershins, the former of whom they eventually help cope with the disappearance of the latter. fiona is a kind and sympathetic character who later makes a poor decision due to her love for her family, continuing the series’ theme of good people feeling pressured into doing bad things for those they care about
