It seems as though things are just as I feared. The decision to cast a ridiculously young, conventionally attractive woman as Kit Snicket was a man’s decision, motivated by sex appeal.
We have Sonnefeld to thank for this interpretation of Kit Snicket that is very definitely not Kit Snicket, and really just Allison. His description of Allison does not match the canon Kit Snicket – neither in ATWQ or in ASOUE.
Kit Snicket is a distraught woman who’s life is falling apart, and is as morally grey as Count Olaf’s shirt.
This woman might be being called Kit Snicket, but she is most definitely not the Kit Snicket that Daniel Handler wrote and that we fell in love with.
The decision to have her not wearing gloves in this scene is yet another example of a failure to understand Kit and the emotional significance and symbolism behind her white gloves.
I am completely disgusted by the blatant sexism (and sexual harassment-y comment about someone who works for him) that went into this casting decision. Sonnefield is using Kit Snicket as some strange “self-fan-service” device, warping her character into something that he find sexy and attractive.
This is Shelby Shoup. She is a Jewish woman who is facingbattery charges for throwing drops ofchocolate milk, and is being doxxed and having her and her family’s personal information exposed. Her venmo is shelby-shoup, if you can donate and help her, please do.

People are acting like she deserves this, like it’s a despicable act, but she literally threw drops of chocolate milk at them, and she’s facing battery charges. Some people say she should be charged with assault. She’s being targeted heavily by antisemitic attacks, which surpises no one. I haven’t seen anyone talk about her yet, and I really hope she is able to get through this because she does not deserve these charges or these attacks.

David Duke knows about Shelby. The Grand Wizard of the KKK knows about this vulnerable Jewish woman. Please donate and help her if you can, she is fearing for her family’s safety and it’s very, very common for jewish people to be attacked and have people look the other way.

I always say ‘get a hobby’ on here but I’m not joking get a hobby it’s literally so good for you! Like you learn something new, get to reclaim passion and interest that you thought you lost forever to mental illness, it feels nice being decent at something, and it gives you something to talk about if you’re like me and have a hard time conversing with others. And basically anything can be a hobby? You daydream a lot well now your hobby’s worldbuilding! You like going for walks now your hobby’s local sightseeing. This is a pro-hobby blog 100%
