I’ve been posting a lot about how much I dislike the lipstick lesbian flag because it’s essentially meaningless, so just FYI, this is my personal favorite flag redesign. It’s not at all well-known but it really should be, it’s both simple and meaningful, and it isn’t just a lazy palette swap of the lipstick flag. It was designed a few months ago by Anne T. Faah on Twitter:

It has come to my attention that the often forgotten lesbian pride flag is not the only forgotten lesbian pride flag, but is itself meant for femme lesbians, while the other commemorates lesbian struggle against hatred.

This troubled me, as I wanted a certain kind of flag… a flag explicitly not just for cis wlw, a flag not necessarily reclaiming hate symbols used by the Nazis to persecute lesbians, and a flag inclusive of different identities.

Then I realized, actually, all the flags were just made up, so why not make a new one? Maybe folks will like it.

This is the new (third) lesbian flag, bearing light violet for femme lesbians, dark violet for butch lesbians, and a white line for nonbinary/agender lesbians.

I made this one to be more than just the rainbow flag with overlapping female symbols on it, as I wanted violet for the allusion to Sappho and tradition of women courting each other with violets, as well as the white line similar to the trans flag.

I also wanted femme/butch coding in the flag as opposed to the flag being explicitly one or the other.

Women who love women, regardless of their arbitrary gender assigned at birth or their interpretation of their own identity, deserve to own lesbianism.

Have you ever had one of those nights when you’re SO engrossed with what you’re working on that the next time you finally look up from what you’re doing, it’s suddenly daytime? (Happens to me all the time, haha!)

Princess Bubblegum’s sleepy-high moment during the Goliad episode instantly turned her into my favorite character.
