i was reading ur posts on how neurological oppression works n stuff and was wondering if anyone who’s neurodivergent can reclaim the r-slur? i think im nd bc i have a slow processing speed (and anxiety) but i’ve always avoided the word cause im not sure if thats my territory

Not all neurodivergent people can reclaim the r slur because neurodivergence encompasses both neurodevelopmental disorders and mental illnesses. The difference is that neurodevelopmental disorders are formed during embryonic development, while mental illness can manifest at any time due to stress, trauma, etc. If you’ve had these symptoms since you were a very small child, you may have a neurodevelopmental disorder. However, neurodevelopmental disorders are very difficult to self-diagnose, so I would recommend trying to talk to a psychiatrist. Until then, I would try to avoid using the word!

It is! True schizophrenia is always early-onset, but unfortunately, severe psychosis is frequently misdiagnosed as “late-onset schizophrenia.” The exact combination of symptoms that are present in schizophrenic people don’t form in the same way during adulthood, but since the disorder is so overdiagnosed, there are still plenty of psychiatrists who diagnose personality disorders and psychosis as schizophrenia. This ultimately all ties back to the fact that the entire psychiatric system is thoroughly fucked. I’m planning on going into psychiatry when I’m older because I have a ton of ideas about reworking the diagnostic system in order to make it more accurate and ultimately more helpful to people like me who struggle with mental disabilities!

if bi women can reclaim slurs misdirected at them (dyke is meant for lesbians), then by that logic, my non autistic friend can reclaim the r slur because it’s been mistakenly directed at him

Slurs are words that target specific oppressed groups. Anybody who falls within that group is able to reclaim them. Bi women and lesbians both face misogyny and homophobia. Structurally speaking, they are oppressed in the exact same manner. Therefore, they can both reclaim the word dyke.

The r slur targets those who are neurodevelopmentally disabled. Therefore, if you are not neurodevelopmentally disabled, you can not reclaim it. If your friend has another neurodevelopmental disorder such as ADHD, schizophrenia, or tourettes, they can reclaim the r slur! If they don’t, they can’t. People with neurodevelopmental disorders are structurally oppressed in a different manner than people without them are, even if those people are mentally ill.

I hope that this makes sense. The truth of the matter is, bi women and lesbians will always have more in common than they do differences. A lot of leftist circles on Tumblr have become incredibly biphobic as of late. As a lesbian, it disgusts me to see the way that bi women are treated on this site.

why don’t you like citrus?

For a long time I straight out hated it because I thought it was creepy. I don’t think it’s incestuous in concept but I didn’t like the way the two characters still called each other sister in the version I read. However, a Japanese friend of mine pointed out that a lot of that is actually a mistranslation of -chan honorifics.

However, I’m still really critical of the series for sexualizing the girls. There are plenty of yuri series that do a much better job at addressing teenage sexuality without going into the territory of eroticism (Aoi Hana, Pieta) or that have adult characters (Octave, After Hours) so there’s really no excuse at this point to write yuri that contributes to pedophilia culture.
