Mercury ~ a little Goddess told me

astrolocherry:

Mercury in Aries: The girl who falls asleep with a headache mercury in aries is a refreshing, young, inquisitive and desiring energy. they have a childlike intrigue in just about anything and imagine themselves as different characters in different stories. the reflex to provocation can be rapid fire defence and critically wounding verbal delivery. there is a short attention span, but they learn quickly – largely too because they are not afraid to ask questions and follow the detour of distraction, and look for answers in every opportunity that promises an explanation.  here is considerable raw energy combusting inside this active, restless, and animated mind. mercury in aries knows how to get conversation started, and better yet – they know how to keep people amused and engaged. they can be under performers in school, and not due to lack of intelligence but rather lack of stimulation, distraction, and resistance to teachers

Mercury in Taurus: The girl whose mind grows a garden when comfortable, mercury in taurus people can become very pressured to tap into a never ending supply of energy for conversation. but sometimes they can feel too awkward around new environments, mentally lazy, lethargic, tired, or uninspired by the discussion. these people share most of their greatest and most beautiful thoughts in their private diary, songbook, or blog. it’s like they have to be away from the dense energy of other people so they can feel free to wonder and whip words like buttermilk cream. to onlookers the mental process can seem slow, but the mind has a rich, active, and continuous activity that co-ordinations information through creative and rational dynamics to extract useful resource, skills, and intellectual capital. this mind is habitual by nature and they can find a sort of quiet delight or satisfaction in the solitary practice and rehearsal of their natural talents. the appetite and desire for food and culinary gratification can be strongly influenced by psychological balance and wellbeing, nerves, and loneliness.

Mercury in Gemini: The girl that was talking to Hermes when she was three minutes old mercury in gemini people have quick comebacks and love to playfully tease and weave complex webs with words. their forgetfulness can be a form of freedom and inconvenience. there is a constant intake of information and automatic disintegration of short term and emotional memory, personal and monotonous details – basically anything that consumes the brain space where facts and knowledge should be. this process clears and provides another bookshelf for new information. it can create the intriguing combination of someone with  composite and clever intelligence who faces significant challenges in basic principles like punctuality, remembering to eat, day to day planning, attention to detail, focus, and applicable common sense. they can be devouring information about a new intellectual fascination and completely unaware that the sun is rising. there is little concept of time when there is so much domination of mind. mercury in gemini people can command the conversation, but this is very much to everyone’s delight. they can blend comedy, conspiracies, and current affairs into one amusing interplay

Mercury in Cancer: The girl who went to school on the moon the emotional state will be evident in the tone of voice. the cancer qualities of reticence, side-stepping, and withdrawing are not really encouraged to develop by mercury. it can make for quite a comical and slanted perspective and portrayal, a rapid fast verbal defence to threat or antagonism, and the ability to direct emotion into the opponent’s weak spots with critically wounding words. they can love to learn from picture books. as adults, these people can enjoy biographies, human stories, and keeping a journal of memories. mercury in cancer can make a great teacher. the cancer mother can see students as children and nurture through educating a new generation, the inner child present in the moon that rules cancer finds creative and inspiring ways to relate and deliver the message. these people are more receptive of body language than what is actually being said. they will quickly establish if someone in the conversation is uncomfortable. unexpressed emotion becomes mental contamination

Mercury in Leo: The girl with a lion on the loose through her mind there is never a dull moment inside this mind. but they have a very day and night experience. thoughts can roar like a valiant lion in the day, radiating supreme pride in thoughts, intellectual creativity and talent, and personal convictions. but by night the sun is gone and so has this part of the mind, the crown has fallen, the protective lion is asleep, and the baby cubs become trapped in the cage of replaying moments of shame, self-consciousness, and regressive need to have troubles responded to and soothed through conversation. they identify closely withe mind, so there can be an uplifting and lifelong elevation of confidence when validated by a teacher, certificate, degree, or academic. they can feel ravenously devoured by psychological darkness, and their hope and resilience is a burning light of redemption. mercury in leo honours the mind through learning and achieving personal best results, imaginative writing, creative verbal demonstration, and experimenting with different mental characters

Mercury in Virgo: The girl who was born to think mercury in virgo is always operating from part of the mind, it has an orderly style of automatic consistency. it refuses to stop operating regardless of circumstance, it can be difficult for the person to fall asleep, push thoughts aside, and remain focused in their environment with relentless chatting and discourse, order, disorder, and constant intellectual arranging taking place in the background. even though mercury is the ruler of virgo, there can be so much mental activity and brilliance that there can be black outs and catastrophic breakdown like a tangle in the wiring that can make them stumble over their words, become overcome with nerves or paralysis in public speaking or answering a question, or say something different to what they were thinking. they may not like to study, but the feeling of being unprepared and failing is worse

Mercury in Libra: The girl that could read your mind mercury in libra people are active and charming conversationalists. they are intelligent and they can discuss just about anything with ease – except themselves. these people are very skilled at personal observation and reading body language. this is largely because they have spent a lot of time being so mentally overwhelmed and so paralysed by their environment that they are unsure what they should do. so they watch the people around them and try to replicate their actions. maybe they even laugh or just because other people are laughing, or take on a different accent or vocabulary. they may have practiced this at school with classmates when they were distracted by daydream and missed the teacher’s instruction. mercury in libras can spend a lot of time confined inside the mind self-reflecting, wondering whose inside, and analysing their thoughts, questions, and behaviour. they constantly practice psychoanalysis on themselves and delve the responses they generate from people

Mercury in Scorpio: The girl that can hypnotise with her eyes scorpio is always secretive by nature, but these people are not afraid to unleash when conversation is deceiving, simple-minded, ignorant, or misinforming. mercury in scorpio focus is unmatched, and they make continual transformations in how they think about. and perceive the world. thought patterns and convictions can be completely different from the person they were a year or two ago. there is an appetite to supply the mind with abundant resource of information, and knowledge is their power. mercury in scorpio does not think, learn, or interact with the world like anybody else. they are instructed in the lesson plan from unseen forces, and they seem to make contact with the right people, sources, and conversations that provide clues to their questions. there are 3 processes taking place with the intake of information. one is the process that we can see take place, a mesmerising calculation and truthful excision see in the eyes, a hesitance to trust, and contemplative listening. the 2nd is flames of personal honour and perspective. the 3rd is saturated in emotional water and throttled through the psychic beam that x-rays and executes delusion and reveals revelation

Mercury in Sagittarius: The girl who asks for answers from the world mercury in sagittarius can have a conflicted mental experience. they can see everything through 2 different eyes. there is one view from the top that compresses the whole spectacle, where they feel grand and important in the world. the other view is from a sight that feels small in a big world, surrounded and ravished by inflating details and a deceiving path seen and unseen. mercury in sagittarius people are highly responsive to environmental intellectual stimulus, winning the debate, and taking any opportunity to grow the mind. there can be a significant nervous experience with mercury in sagittarius, worries and concerns can blow enormously out of proportion and crush with an intense intellectual weight and bended prophecy. a thought can quickly inflate to unease, angst, then into fear, nerves, or panic. they have a wide-ranging sense of opportunity that makes everything seem possible. it also means that there is always the glimmer of hope that burns inside the mind

Mercury in Capricorn: The girl that hid her mind in the closet this mind is very private and guarded, and they would often rather think something than say it out loud. they are simultaneously stimulated and threatened by information that can fragment their view of reality. they are absorbed and internally preoccupied by the constant automatic process of cataloguing and examining thoughts, information, and objectives. these people can seem difficult to trigger a response from, but you can tell if something has aroused their mind through the widened eyes and attentive focus. they like to learn through private repetition and it can be challenging to relax because they are ultra conscious of time wasting. mercury in capricorns like to finish what they start, even if they don’t really enjoy a book they will commit to reading it. these people are not as conservative as it seems. mental patterns and psychological coping mechanisms easily become habits and ritualistic attachment. it’s possible for them to adopt, maintain, and remain secretive about self-destructive practices that help them deal with the mind

Mercury in Aquarius – The girl that read upside down mercury in aquarius people will like to hear and digest information from multiple ranges of perspective and insight. they will often ask endless questions and ways for someone to explain their point of view. mercury in aquarius has great ideals and experiment with various mediums to get their point across. they identify strongly with the mind, so it can be difficult to compromise personal ideologies and convictions. they are not afraid to change their mind, but they will not subject themselves to adopt an opinion or outlook that lacks objective and subjective evidence, personal scrutiny, and a vast spectrum questions and answers. they don’t like to judge, but they can ridicule ignorance, indoctrination, and lack of substance. there is no shortage of intelligence in mercury in aquarius, but it may not have been compatible in early schooling and consequently deeply eroded confidence in themselves. it’s important for these people to find a work, social, and domestic environment that invites and celebrates their unique mind and stellar ideas

Mercury in Pisces – The girl with books filled with spilling words and ink blots from watery tear drops conversation and intellectual stimulation can be very moving and suggestive for mercury in pisces. they can be very swayed based on their subjective emotional response and their ideals, they can almost be too sensitive to the other person’s opinion. these people can be natural teachers because they have an inspiring and creative way of delivering information and they are very patient with people learning and understanding. truth is flexible based on their point of reference. they interact with their environment through the eyes of the higher mind, so immaterial, unseen, cosmic activity expands and dominates the perspective. this viewpoint appears to make the material and concrete constructs vague and obsolete by comparison. the meander of dream, daydream, and thought can seem to be more real than the lived experience. this is also one of their blessings, as it taps the person into stream of telepathy that sources intuitive information and the muse of the mind

I still think Moana deserved an Oscar for this part

To me, the moral of Moana is that only women can help other women heal from male violence.

The movie starts with the idea that the male god who wronged Te Fiti must be the one to heal her. This seems to make a certain sort of intuitive sense in that I think we all believe that if you do something wrong you should try to make it right. But how does he try to right it? Through more violence. Of course that failed.

It was only when another woman, Moana, saw past the “demon of earth and fire” that the traumatized Te Fiti had become (what a good metaphor for trauma, right?) and met her with love instead of violence that she was able to heal. Note that they do the forehead press before Moana restores the heart, while Te Fiti is still Te Kā. Moana doesn’t wait for her beautiful island goddess to appear in all her green splendor before greeting and treating her as someone deserving of love.

Moana is only able to restore the heart because Te Kā reveals her vulnerability and allows Moana to touch her there. Maui and his male violence could only ever have resulted in more ruin.

@i-want-cheese

This is a touching anaylisis but it’s extremely racist as
not only have you completely ignored the whole point of Maui’s character, but
have managed to incriminate a man of color on a tumblr wide scale.

First of all, Maui’s character does not represent male
violence—it represent human greed. Maui did not take the heart because he is a
man, and Te-Fiti is a woman. He took it because the humans asked him to. The humans asked Maui to do everything for them,
not caring how greedy or selfish their requests were and in the end it was Maui
who suffered for it. Maui is supposed to show the flaw of humanity.

This has nothing to do with sexism, it has everything to do
with the fact that Maui gave and gave to the humans who could never stop being
greedy. Moana giving the heart back wasn’t supposed to be her “making up” for
the male violence that Maui represents. It was her making up for the greed she
and her people represent. It was touching however because yes it was an
important moment between two women, but you missed the point and you’ve come off
racist and very disrespectful to a culture at that.

Yes, Moana is an empowering movie for women, especially
women of color. But the last thing this is about is Maui being an abuser/rapist
or whatever. That is not the point of Maui’s character.

And to assume so is racist. You are a white woman completely
dehumanizing a man of color and ruining his image because of how you see him. And other white girls here
on tumblr have happily picked up that image and interpretation and rolled with
it. Maui’s character is now seen as an abuser or as someone who is violently
because of white girls here on tumblr—which it doesn’t surprise me. (an in a
historical context this is even MORE racist because white women would always
make Maui’s people out to be savages and abusers etc., simply because of the
color of their skin and their culture so yea, this is bad).

You can see the morality of the movie however you want, but
do not be disrespectful toward a character and in this case a culture.

@i-want-cheese Please don’t write this off as another “butthurt comment” or
“male guilt”, because this is really messed up. I see how you’re brushing off
some other people’s comments and I honestly hope that you don’t see mine the
same way because this is an issue I think you need to face/realize. You are
being racist and brushing it off isn’t going to change that.

the

@visibilityofcolor THANK YOU FOR THIS. As a Polynesian woman, reading that post and other replies painting Maui and even Tui as aggressive and violent men had me feeling some type of way, especially since White people have always regarded Polynesian men in such a manner.

I’ve thought about replying because I’m tired of seeing these kind of “Moana is a feminist movie” posts collect hundreds of notes despite the fact that these posts always conveniently fail to mention Pasifika people, but it always stressed me out, so thank you.

As an aside, Maui taking Te Fiti’s heart and Moana restoring it was symbolic of environmental preservation. Because the people who inspired Moana–Pasifika people, not just Polynesian–are always affected first when the environment is threatened. Our way of life is greatly influenced by the ocean and we believe that if you take care of the ocean, she will take care of you.

You’re very welcome.

This is insight for me as well (as I wasn’t aware that the movie also came fro the culture of the Pasifika people), and does give a very important perspective. I do agree with you, this movie is about environmental restoration, not some white fem bullshit.

I tried over and over again to explain to I-want-cheese about how she was being racist, but she responded by blocking me and other poc who called her out (even other polynesian people). People to this day are still trying to explain that she is being racist and culturally insensitive but she ignores us.

I’ve made a few posts about this, hoping that people realize how problematic it is to agree with i-want-cheese.  Explaining to her racist white ass that this was problematic was like explaining to a bird. She wouldn’t listen and neither would have of her racist friends.

Sorry you’ve had to see this on your dash every so often, but I’m glad my portion of the post is starting to get around. (reblogged to the wrong blog at first lols)

Eva’s LGBT Manga recs by LGBT authors that don’t include Miss Kobayashi’s or Citrus

My Brother’s Husband by Gengoroh Tagame- a manga for children and adults about gay men in Japan. told through the POV of a man who was estranged from his gay brother, and is suddenly surprised when his brother’s husband appears at his doorstep for the funeral. Explores growing up being gay in Japan, family and loss, and how children can learn and understand and help their parents understand.

My Lesbian Expierence With Lonliness by Nagata Kabi- goes into things like depression and realizing you are a lesbian in a very anti-gay culture. Nagata gets really deep here and goes into the nitty gritty of depression and anxiety, and doesn’t spare any of the details about her life being depressed and gay.

Please Tell Me! Galko-Chan by Kenya Suzuki- goes into girls in high school discovering sexuality through beautifully illustrated and colored twelve paneled strips. the gay is getting there atm but there’s a lot of discussion about girls and their sexualities without actually sexualizing the girls themselves; rather discussing the process of growing up and becoming best friends and eventually dating someone of the same sex who is also out of your social class. but it’s a comedy manga, so while there’s serious moments, the majority of it is funnies- but, the way the panels are structured and the way punchlines are set up is really amazing! it’s an acquired taste, though, considering the majority of it is dirty jokes. has very developed characters.

after hours by yuhta nishio- about a girl who owns a music store falling in love with another girl who she meets while clubbing. VERY SWEET! very fluffy and just the sweetest thing you will ever read. doesn’t have homophobia or etc, everything is good and it’s incredibly sweet.

bloom into you by nakatani nio- this is nio (a bisexual woman)’s first dive into writing same-sex love, so it’s a little clanky, but overall it’s amazing and very sweet! about a student council president falling in love with a pupil.

The Bride Was A Boy by Chii- a trans woman’s autobiography about her life as a child and growing up and eventually meeting her very supportive husband. VERY sweet!!!

feel free to add more!

Shimanami Tasogare by Kamatani Yuuki- (suicide ment) Tasuku Kaname is a closeted gay high school student who, desperate because he might has been outed as gay, decides to commit suicide. While he’s thinking about jumping from a cliff he sees a woman jumping from a window and run to the house she jumped from. He finds the woman unarmed offering him to come to the Lounge, a house where other gay and trans people meet, whenever he wants. Deals a lot with homophobia, transphobia and other lgbt issues and has the found family trope that I really love.

Ohana Holoholo by Torino Shino-

Saya, a trans woman who works as a translator, lives with her bisexual former girlfriend, Michiru, and Michiru’s son, Yuuta. Residing in the same apartment building is an actor called Nico, who drops by for a visit almost everyday, and is – secretly – Yuuta’s dead father ex boyfriend. Between some dramas and trying to manage adult life they somehow all live like a family.

bright and cheery amnesia by oku tamamushi (a woman), a very cute manga about a woman named arisa, who lost 3 years of memories and how she met her girlfriend, mari. despite this, arisa is overjoyed to find out that she and mari are dating and tries her hardest to get as close to mari as she was before her amnesia. there are lots of cute adventures, most of which involve arisa fawning over mari (whos a super cute butch girl who works as a mechanic!!!)

Pieta by Haruno NanaeCollectors by Nishi Uko – slice of adult life series about a long term couple (one of whom collects books, the other clothes), and bits of their romance and daily lives. Nishi Uko’s other works are all excellent too, many collected as Couleur de bijoux d’amour.

Shibuya District, Maruyama Neighborhood, After School by Okazaki Mari – another old school title is about Itoi, a bullied girl who pretends everything is fine, and Ariyoshi, a loner who become friends. Then one day they skip school and go to the titular Shibuya District and stay out all night. Unique art, wonderful atmosphere and a few nice laughs, one of my favs.

Octave by Akiyama Haru –  Yukino wanted to be an idol, but it didn’t work out for her. Now living alone in Tokyo and working as a talent manager she meets Setsuko, a songwriter who and fellow former idol. The story is about their growing relationship, Yukino’s insecurities, and also covers topics such as “growing up”, letting go of the past and coming out.

Hana to Hoshi (The Flower & The Star) by Suzukin Kario – Hana starts high school and ends up sitting next to her nemesis, Hoshino, the girl who crushed her so hard at table tennis it destroyed her love of the game and her goal to go pro. But Hoshino doesn’t even seem to remember her. Hilarity ensues. But also quite a lot of emotions as Hana and Hoshino come to terms with their feelings for each other and the truth of their pasts. My all time fave.

Office Romance Women’s Division, Romance Girls File & Honey and Mustard by Morishima Akiko – three separate but intertwined comedies, revolving around a wedding planning service.

Office Romance tells the stories of the women who work there, and their various fallings in love – from getting over a negligent ex who is more interested in her work than romance, to crushing on a cute salesgirl.

Romance Girls File is about the aforementioned ex who realises she’s been dumped but can’t find her ex to apologise so she hires a private investigator to help track her down (while coming to terms with her heartbreak along the way).

Honey and Mustard is about two consultants to the wedding planners who used to date but are now tolayy just friends for real :):):):) also features a pair of baby gays in a food truck

Hanjuku Joshi by Morishima Akiko – If you’ve read Kase-san it may seem familiar: cute soft girl falls for tomboy, but this is a different story. Yae, a small, slightly chubby girl falls for Chitose, and there’s a lot of fluff but also angst about body image and about being ready for sex. There is a b-plot about student/teacher tho. Contains the great line of “I’m hungry… is it because I took a dump earlier?”

Girls of Sun and Sea by Morishima Akiko – Mizuka returns to an unnamed Polynesian island where she holidayed as a child, falling in love with a local boy. But when she arrives she is greeted by a girl, introducing herself as her childhood love. Could be read as her being a tomboy but reads more as her being trans to me

Morinaga Milk’s Work If you’re reading this you probably know of her work already (Girlfriends, Secret of the Princess, Hana & Hina After School etc) but still gotta name drop her! Many are also available in English

Miyuki, Rain Was Falling & others by Yamaji Ebine – Old school adult manga. Often ambiguous short works, but realistic with a strange, almost melancholy feeling to them all.

Mermaid Line by Kindaichi Renjuurou – the whole work is good, but specifically chapters 6 and 7 “Ayumi and Aika”, which focuses on Ayumi and her split from her fiance when he comes out as trans. Has a happy ending ^_^

Double House by Haruno Nanae –  Tells the story of two women, Maho and Fujiko, who live in the same apartment building. Maho is a trans woman, while Fujiko is a girl from a rich family who’s left home, and the story revolves around their relationship. Contains talk of suicide and self harm

Pieta by Haruno Nanae – An emotional, atmospheric story that is about two friends who fall in love, but one of whom has mental health issues and comes from an abusive home. So obviously talks about abuse as well as self harm and suicide

A San Francisco Story by Ariyoshi Kyouko – Yuuko is visiting her friend Megumu and watching the pride parade from their apartment window. She then meets Megumu’s friend Tracy and they talk, and Yuuko discovers some things about herself.

Strawberry Shake (aka Strawberry Shake Sweet)

by Hayashiya Shizuru – two idols, who are idots, fall in love but don’t even realise it. They are “helped” by their manager, a hairdresser and a glam rock band whose members all have the power to detect when love between women begins and appear whenever needed (and also when not).

Lonely Wolf, Lonely Sheep by Mizutani Fuuka – Two women with the same name happen to meet each other when they’re at the same hospital for the same injury. They want to become closer, but both must overcome their insecurities and self-loathing first. Handles themes like self harm and emotional abuse so watch out for that, as a mentally ill wlw thought it’s helped me through a lot.

Candy by Yufuko Suzuki – Kinda like a stereotypical schoolgirl yuri manga except the main couple is actually established early on so there’s more time for actual character development? Good stuff.

Cirque Arachne by Saida Nika – I like this one because it’s very unique in premise, it’s about acrobats? Lesbian acrobats. And the art is sick.

Aoi Hana by Shimura Takako – This one had a (bad) anime that got cancelled early on so that gives it a rough rep but honestly? Don’t let that fool you, it’s one of the most complex and touching manga I’ve ever read. Handles issues with lesbophobia and sexual insecurity really well. Big TW for incest/cocsa, the main character is taken advantage of sexually by her older cousin, but it’s portrayed as a traumatic experience and taken very seriously.

Graffiti by Furutsuji Kikka – THIS IS A ONE SHOT BUT IT’S MY FAV IT’S SO… CUTE~ okay sorry. but it makes me feel Big Gay.

General rec of Otsu Hiyori’s works.

Also I do feel like I should mention Their Story and Kase-san, which you’ve definitely already heard of and probably seen on your dash many times but,, they are very good and deserving of the hype.

Okay lemme explain why this is basically an admission of guilt and therefore qualifies as the “evidence” every dumbass Melanie stan has been looking for:

– The word choice is EXTREMELY deliberate. Notice how instead of saying “it was consensual” or even “she said yes” Melanie says “she didn’t say no.” This is pulled straight from the book of “excuses rapists use to justify their actions;” despite the fact that it’s likely a lie (Timothy says that she said no multiple times and I’m obligated to believe her because why tf would she lie about that) even if it is true is doesn’t make what happened not rape. If Timothy was coerced and pressured into sex it doesn’t matter if she “didn’t say no” or even if she said yes. She was manipulated, making this a rape.

– Admission of engaging in sexual activity with Timothy flushes those bullshit “they were just casual acquantainces” and “Timothy is just jealous of Melanie’s fame” theories down the toilets. I hope everyone who claimed that feels real fucking disgusting right now.

– Melanie has dug her own grave by simultaneously asserting that a) she initiated sex with Timothy and b) she terminated their friendship shortly after, which is a blatant signal of manipulation; inspiring complete dependency, followed by abandonment, cultivating trust issues and emotional trauma that will last a lifetime. I know because this has happened to me, multiple times. It’s an abuse tactic and it needs to be taken seriously.

Once more for old time’s sake

staff:

🔥 With your help, we passed Title II net neutrality protections. Now we need to defend it.🔥

On December 14 the FCC will vote on Commissioner Pai’s plan to repeal Title II rules. This week he tried to justify that decision with a “myth busting” explainer where he makes a lot of sweeping claims he doesn’t think you’ll fact check.

So let’s go through his big points:

❌ Mr. Pai claims ISPs won’t block access or throttle content

image
image

These are the real facts. Before Title II, the internet was so “free and open” that…

  • Comcast blocked P2P file sharing services (EFF).
  • AT&T blocked Skype from iPhones (Fortune) and, later, wanted FaceTime users to pay for a more expensive plan (Freepress).
  • MetroPCS blocked all streaming video except YouTube (Wired).

In today’s media market where the same huge companies make and deliver content, Commissioner Pai wants us to trust that corporations won’t use their dominance to bury competitive content or services.

❌ Mr. Pai claims Title II keeps ISPs from building new networks

image

Here’s another claim Commissioner Pai doesn’t want you to fact check, but:

  • AT&T’s own CEO told investors that the company would deploy more fiber optic networks in 2016 than 2015 when the FCC passed Title II protections (Investor call transcript).
  • Charter’s CEO said “Title II, it didn’t really hurt us; it hasn’t hurt us” (Ars Technica).
  • And Comcast actually increased investment in their network by 10% in Q1 of this year (Ars).

❌ Mr. Pai claims repealing Title II won’t hurt competition

image

As we mentioned above, ISPs tried to interfere with the services their customers could access and courts had to step in to stop them.

The FCC tried to craft net neutrality rules in 2010 called the Open Internet Order but the ISPs sued and won. The courts told the FCC that the only way to guarantee a free and open internet was using their Title II authority. Without those protections, any of these things would be legal:

  • Your ISP launches a streaming video service and starts throttling other streaming services until they’re unusable.
  • Your phone company cuts a deal with a popular music streaming service so it doesn’t count towards your data cap but lowers your overall data limit. If a better service comes along (or your favorite artist releases new tracks somewhere else) you can’t use it without incurring huge data fees.
  • A billionaire buys your ISP and blocks access to news sites that challenge their ideology.

Repealing Title II would be like letting a car company own the roads and banning a competitor from the highways.

❌ Mr. Pai claims there won’t be fast lanes and slow lanes

image

Let’s break this down: We won’t have fast lanes and slow lanes, we’ll have “priority access” and…non-priority access? Well gosh.

🚨 Please help us protect Title II one more time! 🚨

This week we co-signed a letter with more than 300 other companies—businesses Mr. Pai gleefully ignores—urging the FCC to retain the Title II internet protections. Now we need you.

Go to 👉 Battle For The Net 👈  to start a call with your representatives in Congress. Tell them to publicly support Title II protections.

The FCC votes on December 14.

We’re only powerful when we work together.

Oh, also: that post about automatically unfollowing the #net neutrality tag—it’s not true. It’s really not. That’s not who we are. Whatever happened, we haven’t been able to reproduce it. We tried. A lot.

But if it were true—which it’s not, we feel compelled to say again—THAT’S EXACTLY WHY YOU SHOULD CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES and demand a free, open, and neutral internet.

We can do this one more time, guys! ❤️
