people really, really need to stop putting the word ‘yuri’ on lists of “bad and socially harmful words you shouldn’t use” alongside yaoi. as if the emtymology or connotations of those words is in any way similar

I’ve seen people say that ‘yuri is problematic, you should say shoujo-ai instead’ and i’m begging you to please, please reconsider your position there

please

yaoi: coined by doujinshi circles populated by fujoshis and refers exclusively to pornographic content. literally means “no point, no meaning”

yuri: coined by the lgbt community in Japan. refers to any kind of romantic or sexual intimacy between women, explicit or not. literally means “lily”

westerners for some reason: these are the same

tumblr’s code may change but no notes ghost stays the same

Oh thank god

imagine the shit storm when tumblr finally becomes so dysfunctional that this post’s total notes is finally revealed

In case anyone’s curious about what happened to this post, it has to do with how we tally up notes. Likes and reblogs always add to the note count of the root post (the OP). However, the note count relies on the previous value of the root post before adding more notes to it.

Normally when you delete a post, it’s gone, but not gone gone. Just deleted from public never to be seen again. The database entry is still there, just inaccessible.

This post, however, the root post is just gone. Gone gone. Gone forever. Everything attached to it is still there, but since the root post is hard deleted (something that requires manual manipulation of the database), when the note counter tries to add notes to it, it gets nil to start with.

So it throws every new note into the void. Goodbye forever, notes.

I’m not sure if we’ll ever know the real number of notes on this post.

In honor of Britney Spears’ birthday (December 2), I want to remind everyone that this woman was publically ostracized for struggling with the onset of mental illness, divorce, and loosing custody of her children after years of media scrutiny and hypersexualization starting at the age of 17. No, she is not just a crazy woman who shaved her head. She’s the victim of an industry that loves to build a woman up before tearing her down.

imo for every post you reblog abt ~cutting out toxic ppl~ you need to reblog another one abt, yknow, conflict resolution skills. im not going to behave like this isn’t part of a larger problem in a self-centered culture that exists outside of tumblr, bc it is, but the way these ideas are packaged on here sometimes is deceptive. & sometimes cutting people out is the answer! but i feel like it’s often treated as something to default to instead of, like, the fifth step in a process that actually requires some effort and communication

junecourse for today: bi girls are seen as lesbians when they date a woman and homophobes dont care that theyre bi only the fact that theyre dating a woman and are perceived as a lesbian theyre called lesbophobic slurs and ridiculed

however, bisexual people face bi erasure when they happen to date someone who is the opposite gender and called a faker or “half straight” or sometimes even fully straight and only dates the same gender for attention

but tumblr and the internet lives in a pocket and tries to exclude bi women from “”sapphic spaces”” when at the end of the day, we both like women and want to be with women

however, bisexual discrimination is a little different than exclusive gay attraction due to erasure and biphobia is on both the sides of heterosexuality and lgbt.

all in all, shut up. bisexual people are in the same boat as me and the rest who are lgbt

edit: i am a lesbian and i will defend bi women with my life fuck transparent biphobia because no one cares about bi people on this website even if you say you do you actively derail posts about loving girls or loving boy which is made by someone who is sga regardless

A handwritten letter sent to Hideaki Anno from a Japanese middle school student. This message was featured during the tail end of End of Evangelion, among a quick series of communications that can only be read after slowing the movie down frame by frame. It reads:

I decided to send this letter because I am in awe after watching Evangelion. I’m a middle school student just like Shinji. I feel like I truly understand myself now, all because of Eva. I want to thank you helping me with that. Why do I say this? Explaining everything would take too long, but long story short, Shinji and I are very alike. We’re both depressed, helpless, and introverted. I remember watching Eva and seeing Shinji feel worry and anxiety and feeling the same. In Eva, they say over and over again how Shinji can’t run away from his pain or the unpleasant feelings that come attached. I feel that way too. In the beginning of the show, I really enjoyed the light feeling this anime gave me. But eventually, Ms. Ogata [FRAME CUTS LETTER OFF]

In the last scene, Shinji accepts everyone and they all congratulate him. That was a very nice ending and I felt very happy. Another friend [FRAME CUTS LETTER OFF]

This year I graduate from middle school. Now my focus is on being a high school student, and I’m going to put my best effort into doing well. I’m going to see the new Eva movie when it comes out, but I’m worried about what will happen to Shinji because I really enjoyed the last scene of the TV series. And thanks to Eva, I’ve started like myself more, and that has made me very happy. [FRAME CUTS LETTER OFF]

Mr. Anno, please keep working on Eva more. Thank you so much for everything!!
